Work Experience in Publishing
I’m the Deputy Managing Editor at Solo Press, focused on acquiring and editing translated fiction. I work closely with translators, designers, and marketing teams to shape each book’s tone and look, making sure the story feels right for local readers.
Earlier in my career, I also worked on non-fiction, including What I Know for Sure by Oprah Winfrey and The Child, the Family and the Outside World by Donald W. Winnicott. These experiences broadened my editorial scope and deepened my understanding of personal growth, emotional development, and the craft of shaping thoughtful, inspiring narratives. They also enriched the way I approach fiction today.
My recent bestsellers include Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter, Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Kim Ho-yeon’s The Uncanny Convenience Store, and Lee Mi-ye’s The Dallergut Dream Department Store.
With experience across genres and markets, I bring sharp editorial judgment and a strong sense of how to promote each title so it resonates with readers. My goal is to bring bold, unforgettable stories to Taiwanese readers—and to make literature not just relevant, but essential.

- Alfie the Doorstep Cat by Rachel Wells — a heartwarming and uplifting novel about a stray cat who brings healing and connection to the lives of those around him, perfect for readers seeking comfort and joy.
- La Rivière à l’envers: Tomek & Hannah by Jean-Claude Mourlevat — a poetic and imaginative two-part adventure about longing, courage, and the quest for a mythical river, beloved by readers of all ages for its lyrical style and emotional depth.
Main Interest
My main interest lies in acquiring foreign-language novels, covering genres such as literary fiction, science fiction, mystery, horror, thriller, fantasy, and some romance. Recently, I have been particularly drawn to heartwarming and uplifting stories. Given today’s complex global climate and social tensions, I am especially drawn to novels that offer warmth, healing, and encouraging positive energy to readers.
Experience Related to This Year’s Topic
Asian literature is gaining momentum globally. As an editor focused on fiction—especially genre fiction—I see strong potential in stories rooted in Asian cultures. From everyday neighborhood life to folklore-inspired fantasy, these works offer both emotional depth and wide appeal. Social changes in East and Southeast Asia have also brought out powerful, relatable narratives.
I’ve explored this potential through direct involvement in two Korean publishing exchange programs: the 2022 K-Book Copyright Market and the 2023 Seoul Book Fair. These experiences reaffirmed my belief that Asian literature can move global audiences with its emotional truth and cultural depth.
I was struck by the creativity of Korean publishing and the strong connection it builds with readers. Meeting authors like Kim Ho-yeon and Lee Sulla gave me deep respect for their dedication—their thoughtful storytelling, vivid characters, and emotional honesty continue to move and inspire readers, myself included.
What would you like to discuss related to this year’s topic?
The Potential of Asian Literature in Taiwan
In Taiwan, there’s a growing interest in expanding literary horizons beyond Western fiction—especially toward Asian literature. With shared cultural and historical contexts, Taiwan is naturally positioned to connect with stories from neighboring countries.
In recent years, we’ve seen a steady rise in translated works from Asia: Thai BL and GL novels are gaining a strong following, Japanese literature remains popular, and Korean fiction has made notable progress, with more titles across genres entering bookstores and online platforms.
To ensure this becomes a lasting movement rather than a fleeting trend, we must invest more deeply—in marketing, reader engagement, and literary community building.
One unique advantage is geography. Asian authors can more easily visit Taiwan, connect with readers, and take part in local events—creating visibility and fostering long-term readership. With the right support, Asian literature has great potential to thrive in the Taiwanese market.

Your reasons for applying to the Asian Publishers Week 2025.
I came across the statement on the KOPUS website about “Improving the Environment for Book Distribution”, which emphasized establishing a fair and advanced publishing ecosystem. This deeply resonates with the challenges we are currently facing in Taiwan.
In Taiwan, the decline of literary fiction is not due to a lack of readers, but rather the shrinking and shifting distribution environment. Bookstore orders for literary titles have decreased significantly, the number of physical bookstores has dropped, and readers’ attention is increasingly drawn to fast-moving, eye-catching content across various media platforms. As a result, many books—especially quieter literary works—struggle to gain visibility and are often lost before they can reach their audience.
One of my main goals in applying for Asian Publishers Week 2025 is to learn how Korea and other Asian markets are addressing these distribution challenges. Through this exchange, I hope to gain insights into practical strategies that can help create a stronger ecosystem—one where literary books still have a meaningful chance to meet their readers.
